Selection European Prize for Applied Arts, Mons,B,winter 2009-2010

The European Prize for applied Arts is organised by WCC-Bf, in parnership with WCC-Europe, Design Vlaanderen and the City of Mons. The competition is focused on the artist working in the field of applied arts and design-led arts. the selected works will be shown, from November 20 2009 untill January 17 2010, at the Grand Hall of the Anciens abattoirs of the City Mons, Belgium.
Three of my ‘Clouds by my fingers’ ceramic forms are selected for the competition and exhibition.

Project ‘Dialogue’, WCC-bf, Mons,B, winter 2009-2010

Dialogue will be an exhibition about a process 2 designers members of the WCC-Bf working together designing a form, an installation. Amongst others the project is happening between me and Claire Lavendhomme / contemporary objects and jewellry. The souvenirs of the growing process ‘Dialogue’ will be part of the exhibition.

Entre autres, dialogue entre Claire Lavendhomme/bijoux contemporains et Anne Marie Laureys/céramiste

Le concept repose sur l’idée d’un échange, d’un dialogue, d’une confrontation entre deux créateurs qui se seraient choisis. Le choix réciproque peut reposer sur une affinité (ou une opposition) au point de vue formel, technique ou symbolique. L’échange permettra de découvrir un terrain commun: ex. : légèreté, transparence, densité, intérieur, vide/plein, … et de mettre en lumière la spécificité de chacun.

Chaque créateur sera amené, s’il le souhaite, à créer un ou plusieurs objet(s) nouveau(x), emblématique(s) de cette rencontre. Les travaux à présenter à l’exposition “dialogue” seraient avantageusement accompagnés de traces de leurs élaboration .

November 24, 2009 i will give a talk (Fr) about my travels in India, i visited several places in Tamil Nadu where huge clay sculptures, “Ayanaar Horses” are to be seen. This talk takes part in a cycle lectures ‘ Pratiques de la Céramique, Cycles de rencontres et de conférences autour de l’art et de la creation céramique’ at the Cultural Centre of Andenne, B.

Autumn, 2009, workshop with the children of “Het Roborstje” we will create together a clay sculpture during September. Later October 10, 2009 there is the inauguration of several artworks made by Johan Tahon, Peter Verhelst and Carl Cneut.
